Our Sankofa Village is a place to remember where we come from, learn from one another, and use what we know to strengthen ourselves, our families, and our communities. Rooted in Sankofa and UBUNTU, the Village brings generations together to learn, share, grow, and pass something stronger forward.

Our Sankofa Village brings youth, adults, and elders together to learn from one another—to share, question, discuss, discover, and grow together.
Sometimes we gather to learn.
Sometimes we talk.
Sometimes we discuss movies, music, & explore our culture,
“Sometimes we just put a topic on the TABL-E.”
Sometimes we laugh.
Sometimes we disagree.
Sometimes we simply enjoy being together.
Because community itself matters.
Sometimes we discover that we learned something without realizing we were being taught.
Learning here doesn't always have to look or feel like school.
What might happen when we learn and grow together?
I am strengthened.

Our Journey Didn't Begin Here
Years ago, ACES 4 Youth — Area Consortium of Educational Services for Our Youth, guided by its motto “Giving Our Youth a Winning Hand,” brought community members together through a Black History learning experience:
